![]() “I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.” -Rabindranath Tagore This quote really spoke to me because through service you can achieve so much joy. Helping others and seeing their joy, brings me joy. It is seemingly the only thing that can cheer me up sometimes when I am having a bad day. I reach out to someone in need and I share what I can give to them, weather it is in the form of time, knowledge or just a person to talk to or to take comfort in. It truly makes me happy to serve the people in need and that is why I joined NHS in the first place, so that I could help people in need and so that I myself could be happy and pleased with my work. This activity relates to the NHS purpose because you are creating an enthusiasm to learn in the students who you are tutoring. These kids really want to learn and they really want to get better at what they are learning, they have more motivation than just about anyone I have seen at this school. It also relates because we are developing character in the students at this school. By helping these kids learn they are developing habits and how they want to be as an adult and this build character. From this activity I learned that they’re really are kids out there who want to learn and want to thrive in school. It astounds me that so many kids come in to tutoring every morning and want to genuinely be there. They have such drive and a want and need to learn new things. They inspire me to be a better student and to keep ontop of all of my work. These kids are truly an inspiration.
