![]() “The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others.” - Mahatma Gandhi The Canyon Creek Senior Center is more than just a home for old people. It is a place where the National Honors Society is able to volunteer and make valuable connections with an aging generation. Though there are many differences in the two generations, we can all come together through service. In September, a group of NHS members were able to throw a Homecoming Dance for the people living at the senior center. Being part of that taught me more than I thought it would. I was able to have actual fun and understand that age honestly is just a number. Your body can grow old, but that doesn’t mean your soul has to. The picture I included is of me and a friend I made that night. I danced with this man who was an absolute riot. He liked to get down and threw some moves like I have never seen before. I might be the odd one out but I honestly love going to Canyon Creek. I like listening to stories these people have to tell and sometimes they are really funny. During this homecoming activity I could tell that though some couldn’t move very well, they just liked to watch us NHS members dance around and have some fun.
