![]() This activity relates to the National Honor Society’s purpose because it is service to those around us and improves our community. I have loved tutoring and have learned about people from all different backgrounds and have been able to make new friends through tutoring. Gandhi once said “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” and this has proven true for me. Martin Luther King Jr. also said “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, What are you doing for others?” I think this is a good question to think about and can lead one to becoming more active in serving others. I have tutored in the mornings before school often and many other National Honor Society members and I have been available to any students who walk in the door. We help students with their homework, practicing English, or anything else they need. My favorite thing to do at tutoring is just talking to them and getting to know them, it has opened my eyes to the wide variety of people that attend Hillcrest. I really like tutoring because I get to meet new people that are not usually in my school classes. It has been a great experience for me because it has given me an opportunity to help my peers.
