Frequently Asked Questions:

How much does the membership fee cost?
The membership fee is $20. It needs to be paid through the front office and the receipt must be handed to Ms. Veenstra in Room A102 (the IB room).
Students who are on fee waiver can get their NHS membership fee waived by getting a form from the main office.
Questions about fees? Please contact Ms. Veenstra at lisa.veenstra@canyonsdistrict.org or see her in Room A102.
When and where are the meetings for NHS?
NHS Meetings are held in Room AT200. There is an after-school and before-school meeting (the requirement is only one of the two) and the specific dates for the meetings can be found in the "Members" tab of this website.
How many service hours do I need?
At least 10 hours of service is needed per quarter (this adds up to 40 hours total). Extra hours done in one quarter carry to the next quarter (for example, 20 hours done in the first quarter can be carried over to the second quarter as well). New members who join after first quarter are still held to the 10-hour-per-quarter requirement (but they only need 30 hours for the total year).
What kinds of service counts toward NHS?
Activities such as recycling once a week, tutoring in APP, volunteering at an animal shelter, etc. all count as service for NHS. If you have any questions about whether or not your activity counts as service, reach out to your group lead.
What are the NHS Requirements?
Some of the NHS requirements include completing 40 service hours per year, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5, helping out with school activities, tutoring, and more. For the full list, visit the Registration page.
